Most of the programs listed here were used to
make this site and they are all free. On the following pages I will
discuss how and when they were used. Some are very easy to learn and some
are a little more difficult. You can expect to have a learning curve
that will initially slow you down some. However the expensive commercial
programs have a learning curve also. These programs will have you doing
great work in short order. You will also find that many of the programs
have some of the same features, but do it differently, or with different
quality. You will have to develop your own preferences, use and
choose the best program for the process you want. Some of the logo's
on this page I made or altered and some I got from either the program it's
self or the creators website.
Click on the logo and
the hyperlinks (links) will take you to the download
website.

The MouseOver text to
download |
If you want to use the mouseover effect
in your site here is some HTML text all made up. To use it with
Trellian WebPage all you need to do is download the zip file,
open it and copy my text. Then in the source mode of the
Trellian WebPage, paste where you want them. (Note: a simple way
to pick the place you want them is to place your cursor in the
proper location while in the editor mode. Type a couple of
letters like maybe rr then go to
the source mode and the cursor will be next to the rr so if you highlight the rr in the source mode and paste, the
buttons will appear where you want them.) Rename the buttons
and links to what you used. After that, in the Trellian WebPage
editor mode, you click on each button and select properties then
select reset size. If you place the images in the same relative
location as I did then it will
work. |

|
Trellian
WebPage allows you to create your own web pages
without having to learn complex scripting languages. WebPage's
WYSIWYG interface makes editing pages as easy as using your favorite
word processor. Web masters and other advanced users can hand code
HTML using the built in Color Highlighted source editor, while HTML
wizards are available to make web design faster & easier.

'sTile99 Version
2.6 is I think the best graphics
application for making 'Seamless Tiles'; small images that,
when lined up adjacent with itself, makes a seamless pattern with no
discernible borders. It can do other things, but that was (and still
is) its primary purpose. It is based on gradients, the gradual
shading from one color to another.seamless 'Tiles' for use as
Windows wallpaper or background as Web pages. It has many
filters and effects, and can also be used for photo
re-touching. |

GIMP
is possibly the most versatile graphics program that is out there
that is free. I have found that it will do almost anything that
PaintShop Pro will do. True it is not quite as well interfaced and
doesn't quite do as high of quality on a few things, but it is free
while PaintShop Pro is $99. GIMP was indispensable in making this
site's graphics. |

FileZilla is a powerful
FTP-client for Windows 9x, ME, NT4, 2000 and XP. It has been
designed for ease of use and with support for as many features as
possible, while still being fast and reliable.

|
ZPaint is very simple and
free, but a rather unique little program. It is the easiest way to
make buttons, square round and combinations in any texture both up
and down aspects. An absolute must for
buttons. |
|
|
XnView is the
best free graphics viewer I've seen and it is very easy to learn. It
has a special feature that I happen to like that allows you to open
any image you see with any program you put on the list. This makes
it ideal for use with GIMP as it can save you several
clicks. |
|
|
EyeBrowse
is the 2nd best free graphics viewer I've seen
and it is very easy to use. It has a special feature that makes it
very suited to using with the background tiles you make. With just a
click of the mouse you can tile the image, allowing you to see the
full screen effect it has. After you have made several and are
looking for special effect this viewer becomes invaluable as there
isn't another viewer that does this as far as I know even for sale
and this is free. |
|
|
ThumbaWumba
takes images (JPEG or BMP) from a given directory, changes their
size (if necessary), creates little preview images (also called
"thumbnails") and finally builds websites showing a table of the
thumbnails with links to pages showing the
images. |
|
|
Serif PhotoPlus
5.5 is a good free photo editing program but it is
a little limited. However when combined with the program GIMP it
makes both better. I used it to label the buttons as it works easier
than just GIMP. |
|
|
IrfanView is a very handy
free graphics viewer that has several useful features for when
viewing and some editing, like flipping them, manipulating
color and special effects. |
|

|
Reptile is probably the best
program for making seamless tiles for your backgrounds, and it is
free. Of course these tiles can be saved in GIMP as patterns and
used to texture anything you can
imagine. |

WebFerret is an easy way to locate the information
that you want on the Internet. WebFerret queries Web Search Engines
to find, quickly and efficiently whatever it is that you are looking
for on the World Wide Web. WebFerret will query all configured
search engines simultaneously, while discarding any duplicate
results. Results that are returned (often within a second or two)
can be acted upon immediately. |

OpenOffice
Suite gives you everything you would expect
in office software. You can create dynamic
documents, analyze
data, design eye-catching
presentations, produce
dramatic illustrations, and open up your databases. You can publish
your work in Portable Document Format (.pdf), and release your
graphics in Flash (.swf) format - without needing any additional
software. International users are not forgotten, with support for
complex text layout (CTL) languages (such as Thai, Hindi, Arabic,
and Hebrew) and vertical writing languages. If you're used to using
other office suites - such as Microsoft Office - you will be
completely at home with OpenOffice Suite. However, as you become
familiar with OpenOffice Suite, you will start to appreciate
the extras that make your life easier. You can of course continue to
use your old Microsoft Office files without any problems - and if
you need to exchange files with people still using Microsoft Office,
that's no problem either. |

|
602Pro PC
SUITE is a free for personal use alternative
to Microsoft Office, and has it all! The suite is composed of four
full-featured applications: a word processor, spreadsheet, photo
editor and photo organizer. I used to think this was the absolute
best but since building this site I have found
OpenOffice Suite and it really
seems to be a better
product. |

Buttonz &
Tilez! is an award-winning software package that
should make the life of webmasters easier. The package includes 2
applications, "Buttonz!", which creates buttons of various shapes,
and "Tilez!", which renders seamless textures. The package is
freeware, and comes with dozens of preset textures & buttons for
you to use and modify. Please not that this is still a beta version
so it might contain some minor
bugs. |

MouseOver Button
Wizard is a free program that creates the HTML
code / scripts for navigation buttons and is very
easy to
use. | |
